Left at 2pm and fished till 5 pm. Cloudy winds SSW25 to 30 kts water 66f outgoing tide. It was very hard to cast but we caught alot of small specks mostly in the turning basin, but as the Tstorms started to get closer we headed back and fished outside my canal and picked 3 more fish.

Tog fishing Oct. 17, 2010

Left the house at 10:15am anf started fishing at the first island around 11 am. Water 65 f, Wind SW 15+ outgoing current. Its was not a strong current and and we picked away at them staring in 11 ft picking up small fish then dropping back to 15 ft where we found a better class of fish. We broke off three large fish most likely sheepshead on the rocks and ended up with our 8 fish limit before 1:20pm. Went looking for some decent sized spot but was no in the cards today. Tried for some pups for about 45 minutes off church point but the crabs cleaned the bait very quickly.

Here is a pic of the togmaster himself Dan with a nice mess of togs up to 6 lbs

October 15, 2010

Fished from 8:30 am to 2 pm, Wind at 20 knots west, water 68f and dirty, air 60's. Went to Rudee in the skiff today with Ron Thornburg as he wanted some spot and croaker. Well we did OK on the croaker but it was slow. Fished the incoming tide around the Jetties with the north Jettie being most productive. We caught a few small spot, small sea mullet and a few small specks.Another day off with 20 knots of wind. Maybe I should have run to the triangles today.

Left the house with my neighbor Clarence at 6 pm and went o 2nd for some tog and sheep. Had 30 minute window before dark and only managed 15 in tog. wind was light, current was light ebb, water 68f. Tried for croakers after dark but nada at 2nd or 1st. Went in the river to try a favorite spot for pups, Nada! I think th pups are scattered right now with all the bait in the river and won't start feeding on the lights till the temps drop.

Merv's son is over from Scotland and he wanted to catch some fish. It's been raining and blowing since he got here and today was no different except we had sun. Winds NW at 20kts, water temp 69F and dirty. The target today was sheepshead and were were not denied. We left at 2pm and he took almost an hour to get to the 2nd island and where I wanted to fish was just unfishable so I got as close as I could and anchored. We fished from 3:15 to 5:15 PM and managed 3 sheeps 20, 22, 25, several togs, some nice pups and a 3 lb trigger.
